CCTV Guideline 5 - Field Device Verification

Purpose: To allow traffic or maintenance operations personnel to verify operational functionality of in-field devices (such as Dynamic Message Signs, road/lane closure gates, and other devices).

Engineering judgment should be used to assess potential implications that may result from the installation of CCTV. This planning guidance does not mandate the use of CCTV.

1. The proper operations of the device can be remotely monitored by a camera.

AND

2. The failure of the device presents a safety hazard.

OR

3. The camera operation would avoid unnecessary trips to verify functionality of the field device.

Partical Guideline Criteria:
If #1 And #2 above are met, Or if #3 above is met, the guideline should be considered. If one or more additional purposes are partially met at this location for this device, the device should be considered.
