RReused Tolling Structures

In Rhode Island, tolling operations have transitioned to a contractor. Rhode Island DOT has reused tolling structures for other uses (e.g., counting traffic, speeds).

Converting Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) Signs to Inform Motorists of 511 Phone

PennDOT is no longer installing new HAR sites and is converting in-place HAR signs to inform motorists of conditions being reported on 511 phone. During the transition, PennDOT is reusing components from non-operational HAR devices to extend the life of other in-place devices.

Repurposing Highway Advisory Radio (HAR)

ODOT is phasing out non-critical HAR locations and is no longer deploying new HAR sites. ODOT is removing beacons from signs but leaving static signs in place, so motorists can tune into the broadcast if they desire. Salvageable parts are being used to support higher-priority HAR sites.
